  The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo state has confirmed the death of 30 persons in a road accident that occurred at Onipetsi, along the Ore-Lagos highway, Odigbo local government area.A total of 28 persons were burnt beyond recognition while two others died while being taken to the hospital for treatment.Two survivors are said to be receiving treatment in an hospital. The accident occurred when two commercial buses had a head on collision and burst into flames.Ondo FRSC Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, said preliminary investigation showed one of the vehicles drove against traffic. Ibitoye said the accident happened on Saturday. He assured that investigation would unravel more details on the incident

 Senator Ned Nwoko , representing Delta North , has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after over two decades of membership. Nwoko announced his resignation from the PDP in a letter addressed to the chairman of the party for Ward 8, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. The letter dated Thursday, January 30, stated that the lawmaker is disappointed with the current happenings within the PDP. According to Nwoko, the crisis between members and leadership of the PDP has made it difficult for anyone to foster unity and serve the interests of the people. “My decision to resign is first and foremost due to the deep divisions and factionalisation within the party.   Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has warned that security agencies will monitor and deal with politicians inciting violence against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He stated this while reacting to Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transportation’s statement that Nigerian politicians must “steal, maim, and kill” to remain in power.
